Virtually all foreign trips require vaccination. Where possible please allow at least eight weeks before departure. A few vaccines are not covered under the NHS and a separate charge will be made. Please make an appointment with the nurse to discuss your requirements.
All patients are recommended to ensure that they are immune against the deadly disease of tetanus which is particularly prevalent in Essex. A course consists of three injections, a month apart, and should be boosted at 10-yearly intervals. A maximum of five injections is needed for lifelong immunity.
Hepatitis A And Hepatitis B Immunisation
Those working in the police, ambulance, nursing or any other occupation in which they are liable to come into contact with body fluids are advised to have a course of Hepatitis A and B vaccines. The same applies to those travelling to certain countries. Please contact reception to arrange an appointment with the nurse to discuss your requirements.
Immunisation for Children
It is strongly recommended by the Department of Health and it is our practice's policy that ALL children are vaccinated against major diseases, unless there is a specific medical reason for not doing so.
These are strongly advised for everyone over 65 years old or those who have chest diseases or diabetes etc. They are available in October and November each year. We offer protection against pneumonia in the form of a vaccine. Please ask for details.
It is very important for all women aged 25-64 to have regular cytology screening which our doctors and nurses provide.
A full range of services is provided at this surgery during normal consulting times. You do not have to attend a special clinic for this. Our nurse is rained to provide contraceptive advice. Emergency contraception is freely available. Teenagers are reminded that complete confidentiality is guaranteed.
If you are diabetic, you are invited to attend our diabetic clinic. Please make an appointment at reception.
We hold a clinic here at the surgery for all our asthmatic patients. Please make an appointment at reception.
We offer a specialised clinic to help reduce your risk of developing heart disease or to follow-up those of our patients with diagnosed heart problems.
The practice nurses are able to offer information and specialised support to help you to stop smoking.
