Blood Tests
These can be taken at the following centres:

Community Blood Test Our PCN are in the process of offering phlebotomy at North Shoebury and Norton Place. Please call our reception for latest information.

Travel Immunisations
Virtually all foreign trips require vaccination. Where possible please allow at least eight weeks before departure. A few vaccines are not covered under the NHS and a separate charge will be made. Please make an appointment with the nurse to discuss your requirements.
Tetanus Immunisations
All patients are recommended to ensure that they are immune against the deadly disease of tetanus which is particularly prevalent in Essex. A course consists of three injections, a month apart, and should be boosted at 10-yearly intervals. A maximum of five injections is needed for lifelong immunity.
Hepatitis A And Hepatitis B Immunisation
Those working in the police, ambulance, nursing or any other occupation in which they are liable to come into contact with body fluids are advised to have a course of Hepatitis A and B vaccines. The same applies to those travelling to certain countries. Please contact reception to arrange an appointment with the nurse to discuss your requirements.
Immunisation for Children
It is strongly recommended by the Department of Health and it is our practice's policy that ALL children are vaccinated against major diseases, unless there is a specific medical reason for not doing so.
Flu Vaccinations
These are strongly advised for everyone over 65 years old or those who have chest diseases or diabetes etc. They are available in October and November each year. We offer protection against pneumonia in the form of a vaccine. Please ask for details.
Cervical Smears
It is very important for all women aged 25 to 64 to have regular cytology screening which our doctors and nurses provide.
Family Planning
A full range of services is provided at this surgery during normal consulting times. You do not have to attend a special clinic for this. Our nurse is rained to provide contraceptive advice. Emergency contraception is freely available. Teenagers are reminded that complete confidentiality is guaranteed.
Diabetes
If you are diabetic, you are invited to attend our diabetic clinic. Please make an appointment at reception.
Asthma
We hold a clinic here at the surgery for all our asthmatic patients. Please make an appointment at reception.
Heart Disease
We offer a specialised clinic to help reduce your risk of developing heart disease or to follow-up those of our patients with diagnosed heart problems.
Smoking Cessation
The practice nurses are able to offer information and specialised support to help you to stop smoking.
